Jussie Smollett: Police Put Osundairo Brothers In Hotel During Investigation

The Cook County State Attorney's office issued a statement on the matter, saying: "After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett's volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case".

After he admitted that the investigation has been "one of the worst times" of his entire life, Smollett told reporters that he would like nothing more than to "get back to work and move on with my life". But that's how it's going nowadays. "R. Kelly and Felicity Huffman - you're free to go".

Smollett told police he was victim of a hate crime; his assailants says Smollett hired them to stage the incident, paying by check. The actor told ABC's Robin Roberts that two men attacked him in late January, put a noose on him, and poured on him what he believed to be bleach. "I think that if he didn't have the money to pay for the lawyer. and if he wasn't a well-known person, I don't know that he would be sitting here right now in the position he's in".

"I have been truthful and consistent on every single level since day one", Smollett, who is black and gay, said at a brief news conference.

After their testimony, prosecutors approved charges against Smollett.

Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the police are notably upset over what they describe as a "whitewash of justice".

Chicago's police chief and mayor, both visibly angry, denounced the decision to drop the case and countered Smollett's insistence of his innocence.

On Wednesday his attorney claimed the two brothers said to have attacked him - whom Smollett was accused of having conspired with - were lying about having coordinated the beating.

The Gateway Pundit reported there may have been outside influence on the case. "In America today, people of wealth and privilege can escape accountability for the same acts that mainstream Americans cannot", said Project 21 Co-Chairman Horace Cooper.

"When I know someone, there's nothing you can say to make me flip on them, and that's what we miss in this world", she continued. "He's asking for this,"' she said.

The decision to file a fresh set of charges against Jussie Smollett now rests in the hands of John Lausch, Chicago's US Attorney who was handpicked by President Trump.

After that action, Cook County prosecutor Kim Foxx recused herself from the case. Rampant skepticism and leaks to the media about the case concluded with police announcing charges against the actor. Dismissal of charges against the victim in this case was the only just result. "I don't understand. I don't know, I don't know the underlying evidence", Harris admitted.

Fox producers said Tuesday they were "gratified that all charges against him have been dismissed" but would not comment on whether he would return to the show.

Tchen also reportedly gave Foxx's number to a relative of Smollett who then also engaged in conversations about the case.
