Gayle King reveals what went through her mind during R. Kelly's outburst

"Oh my gosh Stephen, I couldn't believe this", King reacted.

King's interview with R. Kelly was widely praised, even by Watters, who said on The Five, "Hats off to Gayle King for totally redeeming herself after the Smollett fiasco".

Perino awkwardly replied, "That was not Gayle King".

Watters apologized later in the show with a note on a whiteboard, writing, "I'm sorry Gayle + Robin". "I can't understand, how somebody say they love you, and in the same breath spit in your motherfucking face".

'I normally don't watch Fox News so I was sent this. "'Can you let the rest of your colleagues know that all black people don't look alike?'" Could you please just share that? Dana Parino corrected him, which made King email her.

"When somebody says your name, it is soothing", King sad.

Robin Roberts faced criticism after her interview with Jussie Smollett on February 14 about the alleged hate crime committed against him in Chicago.

She also revealed that before she and Kelly sat down in front of the CBS camera crew, she went to his apartment in Trump Tower Chicago to meet him.

Roberts, 58, was actually the one to interview Smollett days before police accused him of staging his alleged attack.

King said she thought that if she told him to calm down, it would make the situation worse.

'When I see Robert getting really upset and he stands up and he gets really upset, my initial reaction is "please God please don't leave, please don't leave". "We've seen him storm out of interviews before so I thought he was gonna do that, I was thinking, I'm not done with my questions, what can I do to save this interview?". King exclaimed. "It was a 212 number that I didn't recognize, so I thought it was work... and he goes, 'Gayle, it's Elton here.' And I go, 'Elton John?!"

'I could see him getting more heated.

"I will never be the man that this did not happen to", he told Roberts. "Our intention was to honor the icon using a secondary image of her performing with Patti LaBelle in the full screen graphic, but the image of Ms. Franklin was obscured in that process, which we deeply regret".
