Marc Gasol's No. 33 jersey will be retired by the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies, team owner Robert Pera said Friday, a day after trading the Spanish center to the Toronto Raptors.

"Phenomenal player and a real".

He added: "I think [the Raptors] will make decisions for themselves. But if they don't, I understand".

A person familiar with the terms tells The Associated Press that the Toronto Raptors have acquired Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies for a package including centre Jonas Valanciunas. Greg Monroe was also dealt to Brooklyn for cash considerations in a separate transaction. In his 11 seasons with Memphis, Gasol became the franchise leader in points, rebounds, blocks and field goals made.

The three-time All-Star big man has spent his entire National Basketball Association career with the Memphis Grizzlies, but the franchise is entering a rebuilding stage.

Parker averaged 7.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 rebounds per game last season for the Spurs. In the span of just minutes, the Grizzlies struck two deals, one of which sent Marc Gasol out of town, ending an incredible run with the team. "Obviously we are very excited about that". The Sixers made a big move to get Tobias Harris and the Bucks made a big trade to get Nikola Mirotic.

Memphis may not be done making moves just yet. This is who we are now, after the trade deadline, outside of buyouts. The native of Lithuania grew to love the city and the country and said Thursday morning he had no desire to leave even if rumours were swirling. Nurse spent five years as an assistant coach working with Valanciunas and worked out with him in his native Lithuania on several occasions.

"I see no issues, honestly, with him". "I just know one thing, we have a good team, we have a good future in front of us". When the team president finally addressed the wilting media contingent at Biosteel Centre, the team's practice facility, he thanked them "for hanging on here". I would appreciate it.

Valanciunas was cleared to play today after missing 25 games with a dislocated left thumb and was expected in Toronto's lineup for Thursday's game at Atlanta.
