If the additional RAM and Warp Charge 30 improvements weren't enough to justify the $70 premium over the standard OnePlus 6T, the unboxing experience alone might be worth that price. The company is yet to set up a Live Stream of the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition launch event. This is created to represent the speedtail left when a McLaren vehicle races past - traditionally, McLaren has used orange as the colour for its race cars. It uses a new charger and battery design and refined power management system that delivers juice to your phone quickly even when you're using it. Warp Charge 30 is also supposed to prevent the device from getting too hot while plugged in. The back panel is touted to be based on McLaren's groundbreaking carbon fibre that was featured on all McLaren cars since 1981. The phone also has an exclusive software animation, which is tuned to McLaren's unique style and history.
OnePlus 6T is claimed to be a combination of speed technology and beauty which is inspired by the desire to challenge the current standards and OnePlus and joined hands with McLaren to introduce to launch the McLaren Edition of the OnePlus 6T smartphone.
Other than these two tune-ups, the changes in this special edition of the OnePlus 6T are cosmetic. The special edition retains the glass body, but underneath is a carbon fibre texture. After creating a lot of buzz in Woking, London, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will launch in India today. The McLaren Edition will be the most expensive phone ever released by OnePlus. One of the differentiating features on the McLaren Edition is the packaging - the device comes in an orange box packed with goodies.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition was far from a well kept secret, but the "salute to speed" is now official and it's everything you'd probably expect from a OnePlus and McLaren crossover. The Warp Charge 30 power unit includes a Papaya Orange braided cord cable. The most expensive standard 6T model clocks in at $629, so the McLaren Edition's markup doesn't feel too extreme - a relief after some of the other smartphones that have come out of team ups with auto companies.
The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will be available in India, China, Western Europe and North America.
Both logos sit on the back in silver, while there's orange edge detailing on the bottom three quarters of the McLaren Edition handset. The display is the same 6.41-inch Full HD+ AMOLED, with that dew drop notch at the top with the 16-megapixel front camera.
