The forward was labelled as an early doubt for next week's crunch Champions League clash with Liverpool but he believes the injury is not as serious as first feared.

Neymar suffered the injury as he attempted to shoot in Brazil's 1-0 win over Cameroon.

However, team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told reporters that while a scan was needed to confirm the exact diagnosis he did not think the injury to Neymar's adductor muscle would keep him out long.

Paris St Germain said on Wednesday that Neymar had suffered a groin strain and Kylian Mbappe a bruised shoulder while on global duty, a week ahead of a crucial Champions League clash against Liverpool.

The club revealed that Neymar has suffered a groin strain, whilst Mbappe has been diagnosed with a bruised right shoulder.

However, Liverpool will travel to the Parc des Princes on Wednesday 28 November, in what will likely be a crucial clash in the Champions League.

"He came off complaining of pain", Lasmar said.

Liverpool now hold a one point lead over PSG heading into matchday five but the Ligue 1 giants would be banking on home advantage to put themselves back into one of the top two slots.

"He was evaluated and he has already started treatment, but will need a little bit more time to have a better assessment, with a scan, but initially it doesn't seem like an important injury".

"No player is more important than the team".

Following the match, Neymar took to Instagram to provide an update.

The Brazil captain was withdrawn after only eight minutes of action, though replacement Richarlison went on to score the only goal of the game.

It took Brazil's record since the World Cup to six wins in six games with six clean sheets.
