Six Palestinians reportedly killed on Gaza border

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza said six Palestinians were killed by the IDF during violent disturbances on the border on Friday.

No Israeli troops were harmed, but at least 140 Palestinians were wounded by live bullets in one of the deadliest days in months.

Following an infiltration attempt in which 20 Palestinians succeeded in breaching the border fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman announced that all fuel supplies Israel provides the coastal enclave will cease immediately.

Four Palestinians were killed along the border east of Al Bureij in the centre of the Gaza Strip, while one died east of Gaza City, a ministry spokesman told AFP. He said an investigation was underway but did not give further details.

After the murder of Israeli activist Ari Fuld who was stabbed in the back by a Palestinian terrorist two weeks ago there has been a significant uptick in terrorist activity in Judea and Samaria.

The men subsequently approached an Israeli border post and were shot, the Israeli army said. Sources added that Israeli settlers attacked the couple's vehicle with rocks, hitting Aisha with a rock in the head, which caused her death, and leaving her husband injured.

A Palestinian assailant armed with a knife attacked the soldier, 32, outside of the Shomron Regional Brigade headquarters in the northern West Bank, near the settlement of Itamar.

Tensions have been running high near the fence since March 30, which marked the start of a series of protests dubbed "The Great March of Return".

The fuel deal had been reached without the agreement of the officially recognized Palestinian government, in what diplomats said was a first for Gaza - which is controlled by the rival Palestinian faction, Hamas.

Gaza-based social media released a video showing a crowd of Palestinian demonstrators surrounding Islamic Hamas movement politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh to protect him from the tear gas.

The protests have regularly occurred on Fridays, with as many as tens of thousands of Palestinians gathering at multiple locations along the Gaza fence.
