The Google Home Mini sold 2.3 million units in the quarter for a 20 percent market share, while Amazon's Echo Dot and Echo sat in second and third place with 2.2 million and 1.4 million units, respectively. The company has slightly redesigned the Echo Dot, which it calls "the best selling speaker ever". Rest of the functionality remains the same, as does the price at $49.99.
Google Home Mini has vaulted to the top spot in the global market for connected speakers, edging out a rival device from Amazon, a survey showed Wednesday. On the device's sides under fabric wrapping, dual 2-inch Neodymium drivers and Dolby processing belt out tunes or streamed content.
Like the Echo Plus, the Echo Show also includes a built-in Zigbee hub for easily connecting to smart home devices that use the Zigbee protocol. The report also confirms that there will be no camera on board for Duo calls, something that was seen missing in the leaked images as well.
Echo Show. The second-generation Echo Show is a bit more attractive than its angular predecessor.
Its 10-inch HD screen has twice the area as the old model's 7-inch display, according to Amazon.
The all-new Amazon Echo Plus costs $149.99 in the U.S., £139.99 in the UK.
The Echo Auto is a new gadget that puts Alexa in the vehicle. Two things, really. First of all, Google Assistant is widely regarded as a smarter virtual assistant than Amazon's Alexa - although both are improving all the time.
Echo Auto can pick up anyone's voice in the vehicle and can also hear your over music or engine noise. You essentially connect the two together via Bluetooth and the Alexa companion app. There's also an "Ask Alexa" button on the touchscreen control panel of the microwave; you can press this button and bypass Alexa with commands like "Cook for four minutes". The redesigned, yet identically-named Amazon Echo Show is ready for pre-order today at the same $230 (£220) price, and will start shipping next month. Pick your choice of popcorn on Amazon, and as you go through your supply, it'll automatically figure out you're running low, and re-order the next batch automatically.
