NEET begins: 1.20 lakh students take medical entrance in Kerala

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday announced that every student from the state who travels to other States to appear for the NEET will be given train fare in addition to the monetary assistance of Rs 1,000 per candidate. "Those who are appearing in Delhi or far away cities to write the exam have only been allotted these centres out of their choice". The AMMK leader said several hundred medical college aspirants from Tamil Nadu have been allotted centres in states like Kerala and even Rajasthan.

Apart from the help desks, medical booths were also set by the government for the ease of students.

According to K. Srinivasan, deputy secretary and regional officer of CBSE in Chennai, 5,371 students from Tamil Nadu have been allotted centres in Ernakulam. "When I spoke with the parents, I came to know that majority have already planned carpooling". Students said their ears and mouth were checked ahead of the examination.

Around 14,000 candidates will write the (NEET) at 32 centres in Patna on Sunday. Some more were granted centres in Sikkim and Rajasthan, causing massive outrage among the educational community in the state of tamil nadu. The CBSE went to the Supreme Court just a few days before the exam, and the top court stayed the order.

Now, students are now left in a limbo. We increased the number of centres in Tamil Nadu by 25 and have even asked centres to accommodate students to its full capacity. Students in these four halls were, however, Tamil medium students and they told them that they could answer only in Tamil.

About 1,20,792 candidates will appear for the test from the state in 226 centres spread across thedistricts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Alapuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur. Their relatives are on their way from Tamil Nadu.

Actor Prasanna tweeted that he would like to sponsor the travel expenses of two underprivileged students. Over 13 lakh students from across the country have registered for the exam which would be held in various centers in 136 cities. "Will book the tickets for you".

Candidates found indulging in any unethical practice will be debarred for three years and shall also be liable for criminal action.

NEET 2018 applicants are informed that exam conducting body sticks to the dress code very seriously. As many as 24,720 aspirants had opted to take the exam in Tamil. "Is that not the direct result of the incompetence of the CBSE which conducts it?" Some candidates felt that the NEET 2018 paper was easy. The CBSE will provide the facility to download Admit Cards on the board's website.
