The Cubs' Kyle Schwarber (right) celebrates with third base coach Brian Butterfield after hitting a home run against the Brewers in the sixth inning Thursday at Wrigley Field. The Cubs said that Bryant does not have a concussion. He yielded just 3 hits against the Brewers with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks, lowering his ERA from 6.86 to 5.26.

But as Darvish prepares to make his fifth start of the season Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, the 31-year-old right-hander has yet to deliver.

Darvish got his second big league double and fifth hit with a drive into the right-field corner in the fifth inning against Brent Suter.

Chicago's pitchers rank ninth in the NL in ERA (4.06), but the offense has carried the way.

Pedro Strop (3-0) retired Aguilar - his only batter - on a flyout that ended the seventh.

Carl Edwards Jr. pitched a flawless eighth, and Brandon Morrow finished it off with a ideal ninth, striking out Ryan Braun for his sixth save.

Suter allowed 2 runs and 5 hits in 5 innings.

Milwaukee lost its second straight one-run game to the Cubs on a chilly, windy day. DIAMONDBACKS 5, NATIONALS 4: A.J. Pollack homered and scored three runs to lead Arizona past Washington. Davidson, who drove in three runs, has seven home runs this season - five against the Royals.

Pirates 6, Cardinals 5 (11 innings): Starling Marte's game-ending single in the 11th inning lifted the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Bryant has been out since Sunday, when he was hit in the head by a 96-mph fastball from Rockies starter German Marquez.

RANGERS 6, BLUE JAYS 4 Ronald Guzman hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the sixth inning, and visiting Texas beat Toronto. Quintana, meanwhile, hasn't been sharp but did strike out six in a six-inning shutout against the Brewers three starts ago.

Rays 4, Red Sox 3 • Blake Snell worked into the eighth and struck out nine, and Tampa Bay won in Boston. "That guy has probably taken away a solid 10 to 12 extra-base hits from me over the years". The injury happened in Tuesday's Brewers-Royals game in Kansas City. Albert Almora Jr. led off with a double, extending his hitting streak to a career-high 10 games, before Baez singled him home, also extending his hitting streak to a career-high 10 games.
