Denver Broncos day two mock draft: Adding firepower on offense

The ACC placed six players in the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday night.

As Chubb told Newsday's Tom Rock on Tuesday, he'd be delighted to wind up with the Giants, who now own the second overall pick.

Chubb fell to the Broncos with the fifth selection in the National Football League draft after the Cleveland Browns made a pair of surprising moves in front of them.

Last year, three players from the Carolinas were selected in the first round: North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, Clemson receiver Mike Williams and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

A stunned Elway said "zero" of his mock draft scenarios had Chubb falling into his lap to the thrill of superstar Von Miller and giving coach Vance Joseph the ultimate problem for a coach: an abundance of pass rushers.

Freeman went off the board after Georgia's Nick Chubb, USC's Ronald Jones, Auburn's Kerryon Johnson and LSU's Derrius Guice were taken in Friday's second round.

They could also draft a very talented player at number 5 to fill any one of those needs. We don't (normally) have the No. 5 pick in the draft.

Chubb is the 16th first-round pick in N.C. State's history and sixth since 2000.

Broncos fans can't wait for him to get out there, either.

"His bend, the way he wastes no movement coming off the ball", Chubb said, "that's something that I tried to implement". The 6-4, 270-pound edge rusher led the Wolfpack to a 9-4 season and top-25 finish.

"I am a guy who is going to come to the field and demand respect wherever I am on the field - whether it is in the slot, whether it is on the outside, on the right or the left", Sutton said during a conference call. Like any great pass rusher, though, he said he takes the most pride in getting to the quarterback.
