Sonic Mania Is Getting An Expanded "Plus" Release This Summer

During the Sonic themed SXSW 2018 panel held earlier today, SEGA have announced that Sonic Mania Plus is now in development and is projected to be released this summer.

You can check out the original Sonic Mania opening below.

Sonic most recently came to the homes of players via Sonic Mania, a well-received classic take on the franchise with some new elements mixed in for good measure. The release of the Sonic Mania Plus will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for $29.99.

Sega has unveiled Sonic Mania Plus, an updated, expanded version of last year's excellent retro-inspired Sonic Mania. The competition mode has also had an upgrade, now allowing for four players to race to the finish in any of the game's twelve zones. The physical release of Sonic Mania Plus also includes holographic packaging and a 32-page art book. While Sonic R was an on-foot racing game, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed put Sonic and friends into high-speed karts and other vehicles.

Sega is one of the most hit game developers and the games from the developers are among the best.

In addition, a Sonic Mania Adventures YouTube series of five minute short cartoons will be released.
