Drunk man runs from cops, gets hit by his own vehicle

The man was fleeing the police in Fairfax, Virginia, when he chose to get out of the vehicle and run - a decision he soon regretted.

On Tuesday the police department posted the dash-cam video of the incident.

Police say they initially pulled Bonsu over Sunday for an apparent equipment violation.

Authorities said 30-year-old Isaac Bonsu led police on a chase and jumped out of the auto to led officers on a foot pursuit in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County.

The video then shows his running in front of the auto before being hit.

The man quickly tries to run in front of the vehicle, apparently not realizing it was still rolling forward. The video shows Bonsu getting out of the vehicle to run on foot, and neglecting to put the auto in park.

In the video, Bonsu appeared to get up and run from an approaching officer before he was eventually caught. He was stopped after a brief foot chase, police said.

Bonsu was charged with DWI, possession of marijuana, driving on a revoked license, hit and run, disregarding police signal to stop, tint violation, and possession of open container while operating a motor vehicle.

Police said an officer attempted to pull over Bonsu, but he kept driving, WJLA reported.
