Jennifer Lawrence Is a Deadly Spy in New 'Red Sparrow' Trailer

"To see her transform in a courageous way and truly push herself into a new territory has been one of the most exciting things about this project".

Red Sparrow is set to hit theaters on March 2, 2018.

Francis Lawrence turned around the Hunger Games franchise in a big way, with a nice mix of cinematic artistry and and genre movie pulpiness.

As always, it's a pleasure to see Jennifer Lawrence on screen and Red Sparrow will certainly be no different, however the script will turn out. A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit.

Based on Jason Matthews' novel, Red Sparrow tells the story of Dominika Egorova, a ballerina who becomes a Russian agent.

Francis Lawrence is directing Justin Haythe's script for the film, which features a loaded cast that includes Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons. With few funds to help her ailing mother, she's borderline blackmailed by a secret intelligence service into enduring the sadistic Sparrow School that transforms her into an expert manipulator, seductress, and living weapon.

After completing the training process she becomes the most unsafe Sparrow the program has ever created.

A lovely young woman with considerable ballerina training is transformed by her nefarious Russian superiors (through a covert-ops program) to be a world-class assassin and spy. Then she finds herself in a life-threatening situation where she must call upon all she has learned. I just thought, 'I'll never do that again.

Lawrence is a talented actress who can pull off a Russian accent, to an extent, but it seems like this role will demand more internality from her - something she's struggled with recently in Darren Aronofsky's mother!

A new trailer for the movie has now been released.
