Trump floats prosecution against Abedin, Comey

She put Classified Passwords into the hands of foreign agents.

The issues of impropriety have been raised in reports from media outlets ranging from the NY-T's to The Daily Caller, and conservative author Peter Schweizer's "Clinton Cash" also fueled demands for a renewed investigation.

The latest barb came when Trump suggested that former secretary of state Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin should be jailed for reportedly including log-in details for government email accounts in personal emails.

In his tweet, Trump referred to the "Deep State Justice Department", an apparent reference to the president's contention that some elements of the USA intelligence apparatus have attempted to undermine his election.

He has also claimed that the investigation into Clinton's server-overseen by former FBI director James Comey (who Trump fired in May 2017)-was "rigged".

A computer technician who deleted Clinton emails from her server in March 2015 after a congressional subpoena had been issued for them, originally lied to the Federal Bureau of Investigation during his interviews, memos show. Trump has said there is no evidence that he colluded with Russian agents during the campaign.

In November, he lamented during a radio interview with the Larry O'Connor Show that he was unable to be involved with the FBI's decisions.

"Because you'd be in jail", Trump fired back.

In 2016, Comey said that he would not recommend prosecuting Clinton for her actions, but Trump has since publicly cast doubt's on the bureau's conclusion.

Trump has previously accused Comey of leaking sensitive information after the former director testified that he had asked a friend to pass on notes he had taken of his interactions with Trump to a reporter for the New York Times in hopes of securing a special prosecutor to take over the Russian Federation investigation.

Tuesday's outburst by the President also sheds new light into his apparent belief in, or willingness to perpetrate, the idea for political reasons that there is a "deep state" - a secret cabal of government and intelligence officials conspiring against him and his presidency.

In December, he tweeted about Clinton herself, saying, "Many people in our Country are asking what the "Justice" Department is going to do about the fact that totally Crooked Hillary, AFTER receiving a subpoena from the United States Congress, deleted and "acid washed" 33,000 Emails?"

The FBI has previously said that a number of Abedin's documents were backed up on the laptop of her estranged husband, former Rep. Anthony Weiner, and that a smaller number were manually forwarded.

He said Comey's "inner circle" had "predetermined opinions" about Clinton and Trump.

The Hill published a story today based on leaks from a recent House Judiciary Committee meeting where FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe discussed elements of the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
