Arkansas has agreed to a deal with SMU coach Chad Morris, according a person with knowledge of the decision.

The 49-year-old Morris is 14-22 in three seasons with the Mustangs, including 7-5 this year.

Bielema took over in Fayeteville in December of 2012, leaving his head coaching job at the University of Wisconsin where he had coached since 2006.

I've been told Chad Morris has informed SMU he has accepted the job with Arkansas.

Like Craddock, wide receivers coach Justin Stepp spent time with Morris when he was the Clemson offensive coordinator.

Morris' hiring leaves only Tennessee among SEC teams with head-coaching openings.

Morris is the man who coached former Texas QB Garrett Gilbert at Lake Travis outside of Austin, and prior to those years, he was at Stephenville, another Texas powerhouse, along with Bay City, Elysian Fields and Eustace.

With Malzahn out of the picture, Thamel reported Monday that Yurachek would target Morris and Memphis' Mike Norvell, both of whom Yurachek observed during his time in the AAC.

"As we began our search for the next head football coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks, Chad Morris was a name that quickly emerged as someone that would be an excellent choice for our program".

In his first year at SMU, the Mustangs went 2-10.

SMU went 7-5 in the 2017 regular season and finished eighth in the country while averaging 40.2 points per game and more than 300 yards passing per contest, ranked 16th in the nation.
