Abraham gets first call-up to England senior team

Midfielder Loftus-Cheek has made six appearances for Crystal Palace in spite of missing some games with a thigh injury.

Abraham, who is on loan at Swansea, received his first call-up along with his Chelsea club-mate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, now on loan at Crystal Palace, and Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

All three have been called up to the first-team squad for the first time in their careers having impressed in the Premier League for the respective clubs.

Notable omissions from the latest squad include Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who was expected to be involved following his return to first-team action for the Gunners following an extended period out injured and Newcastle defender Jamal Lascelles, who has received praise for captaining Newcastle during their impressive recent form.

Gomez, a 20-year-old defender, has been rewarded for his bright start to the season with Liverpool.

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been left out along with Manchester United's Chris Smalling. "He's played very well for Manchester United".

England meet Germany on November 10 and Brazil four days later on November 14.

"If I am asking club managers to be courageous and pick young players, then I think I have got to do the same".

Gareth Southgate has included the trio in his squad for matches against Germany and Brazil later this month.

"These lads are players who, right through the age groups, have been recognised as being our best players and they're all playing well with their clubs and having a good impact".
