Roy Price resigns from Amazon following sexual harassment allegation

Roy Price, who resigned from the company on Tuesday, asked staffers at a holiday party whether or not Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon would "show their tits" in "Big Little Lies" reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Hackett, who is the daughter of late legendary science fiction author and Man in the High Castle writer Philip K. Dick, said Price repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances toward her following the San Diego Comic-Con in 2015. An important conversation has begun about the need to create a culture in our industry, which values respect and decency and rejects the abusive power and dehumanizing treatment of others.

"This is truly an opportunity to find a better way forward, and ultimately toward a balanced representation of women and minorities in leadership positions". The findings haven't been disclosed.

She then chose to go public with her claims when the allegations of sexual harassment emerged against Weinstein earlier this month.

The move came almost two years after Hackett filed a complaint against Price in 2015, which was investigated and handled privately by Amazon, according to The Information.

Weinstein has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.

"Mr. Price became a bit player in the [Harvey] Weinstein story when Rose McGowan, an actress who had reached a settlement with Mr. Weinstein in 1997 after an episode at a film festival, posted a series of tweets directed at Jeff Bezos, the chief executive of Amazon", The Times notes. "The first: "@JeffBezos I told the head of your studio that HW raped me.

"This is a necessary move because of the sexual harassment allegation, but I think it's a convenient excuse to replace him", said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities. He said it hadn't been proven. She went on to allege that a script she had in development with the company was later killed.

Even before Price's exit, Amazon Studios already has been in transition.

In addition to the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Transparent and Globe-winning Mozart In the Jungle, other critically/commercially successful series developed and launched under Price include dramas Bosch and The Man In the High Castle. Looking ahead, Amazon will turn its focus to more global event series a la Game of Thrones.
