The NIA, over the past two months, arrested ten influential separatist leaders and businessmen from the Valley, for their alleged role in the procurement of funds from Pakistan.

The NIA director general-designates comments came after the home minister complimented the outgoing chief of the NIA, Sharad Kumar, for the achievements of the investigating agency. While appreciating the role of the NIA in probing terror cases, the minister claimed it was a challenging task as almost 95 per cent of its cases were resulting in conviction.

Singh also claimed that India has taken remarkable steps to highlight the menace of terrorism in the global forums. PM Narendra Modi, he added, had succeeded in bringing the worldwide community on board over the issue. I'm confident that NIA will maintain its credibility & professionalism, he added.
