Jack Wilshere professes Arsenal love after shining in Europa League

He was particularly impressive in the first half as he dictated proceedings and set up Theo Walcott's opener with a cross following a one-two that allowed him to burst clear on the left-hand side of the box.

Rob Holding almost had his second goal for Arsenal from another corner but he swung at the ball and smashed his shot off the post. Alassane Plea added his second goal after the delay.

Scherbitiski made amends on one particular occasion to tip away another Walcott effort away at full-stretch to temporarily deny his hat-trick.

Arsenal fans were understandably happy for Giroud but, in typical fashion on Twitter, they found a way to have a dig at someone.

Aleksey Rios - 5/10 - Rios defended well on occasions, and blocked numerous Maitland-Niles crosses and denied him after Wilshere got the ball to him in a unsafe area. Gradually making his way back into the first team with his second start of the season, he looked very comfortable out in Belarus last night.

"He had an outstanding first half and he did fight until the end".

It was a substantial fall from grace for a player once hailed as "the future of English football" by Barcelona hero Xavi after breaking into the Arsenal team as a teenager.

Maitland-Niles - 6.5. Got up and down the left, but isn't a left sided player and it shows. Then Ospina saved Ivanic's header but palmed it straight into the path of Mikhail Gordeichuk who thumped home from close range.

"I never played it [three at the back] as a youngster growing up".

"With Jack's history of injury, we've got to give him a bit more time to come through a few games before we think of selecting him".

Despite the defeat, Hapoel are second in Group G on three points, three behind leaders FC FCSB of Romania.

Maksim Volodko - 6/10 - Similarly to Palyakow, who he replaced, Volodko did well to keep Nelson quiet and showed some attacking intent.

A nervy finish stretched Arsenal at the back, but their brilliant opening blitz had secured victory. The Belarusian side are no slouches and they've beaten the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Bayern Munich and Roma in recent seasons, but for the most part the Gunners were utterly dominant.
