Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that midfielder Mousa Dembele needs to be managed carefully, having left the Belgium worldwide out of the starting XI for his side's previous two Premier League fixtures.
This season's fixture comes much earlier in the campaign but Tottenham can hardly afford another slip-up given they already trail both Manchester United and Manchester City by five points. I don't want to say he is under-rated because everyone in Europe is aware of the talent that he possesses.
And he spoke about how he'd worked hard to reach where he was now in the Premier League.
Javier Hernandez netted five minutes before Aurier's dismissal, scoring his first goal in nine attempts against Spurs, which was followed up Cheikhou Kouyate three minutes before the 90 minutes was up. But the Hammers chief was honest in his assessment of the contest: "Of course we are disappointed that we lost the game, the Croat said".
Kane said: "We know we just have to improve our home form and we should be right up there".
With West Ham having claimed victory in each of the last two home matches against Tottenham, Pochettino's reasoning is clear.
Dier has been deployed predominantly in holding midfield this season, but may have found himself in defence more often were it not for a knee injury to Victor Wanyama. "That game means more than three points".
"And while Spurs have been tenacious in hanging on to star players they have also extracted huge sums in transfers - Gareth Bale's £85million move to Real Madrid was a masterclass in salesmanship by Daniel Levy". Had Spurs remained at White Hart Lane for just one more season, they would have surely been favourites to win the league.
Dembele has not started the past two league games against Everton and Swansea, and he could return to the bench for Saturday's visit to West Ham after playing 79 minutes of Tuesday's EFL Cup third-round win over Barnsley.
