Family members of 39 missing Indians in Mosul blame Centre for incompetence

"It is a sin to declare a person dead without concrete evidence".

"This file will not close till there is proof that the 39 Indians are dead". Even the U.S. still looks for soldiers who went missing in World War II. Based on the search done by Singh she said that the Indians may have been lodged in a jail located in northwest Mosul. "More countries are willing to help us", she said without giving the names.

Earlier, Sushma Swaraj faced ruckus in the House from opposition members, mostly the Congress, as she was about to speak. Immediately Minister of State of External Affairs VK Singh flew to Mosul and stayed there for four days enquiring about the missing Indians.

Sarwan Singh, who belongs to Amritsar and whose brother, Nishan Singh, is among the missing people, said, "If the government can not get them back, at least it should tell us where they are or in which jail they are lodged and most importantly if they are dead or alive". He never said they are dead.

Other affected families, who all are from poor backgrounds from different parts of Punjab, say that they have nothing but to pin hopes on the government's and the minister's assurances. Quoting intelligence inputs, the Minister said the Indians were made to work in farms by the IS. Iraq has confirmed the jail was destroyed by the ISIS.

Swaraj said during her interaction with Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari here on Monday, she sought an update on the missing Indians backed up by evidence.

The Foreign Affairs minister reminding the case of the Vietnam War said that the U.S. still considers its armed forces personnel missing, who haven't been found since the Vietnam war ended back in the 1970s. "Similarly, their families are free to carry out ardas (rituals) but it will be their responsibility if someone comes back", Swaraj said. As Ms. Swaraj mentioned in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, no credible evidence such as blood spillage, bodies or DNA samples to prove that the Indians are indeed dead. "They must not storm the well", she stated. Opposition is alleging that I'm misleading the House. "How would it benefit me or the government?" she said. "But if tomorrow we discover that the person is alive, then only the person who talked to the family is responsible for it".

"There were contradictions in Masih's version". "Why should I believe Harjit Masih's claims?". "I had said then that I do not have proof of their being alive", she said.
