Frontier Airlines does not now have service from Oklahoma City, but on the airline's website one could book a flight from Oklahoma City to Denver; Orlando, Florida; and San Diego with dates beginning November 1.

Officials announced Tuesday that the Colorado-based low-priced carrier will offer flights to Austin, Texas, and Denver starting in October.

Frontier said the Grand Rapids flights are among 85 new routes nationwide that it is adding.

Frontier will serve a total of 82 cities following the huge expansion, which is expected to double the total number of routes in the airline's network.

To celebrate its expansion, Frontier is offering for a limited time fares from $39.

Sunny destinations such as Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers and Cancun will receive expanded services and in Denver, its base, there will be 19 new destinations.

The airline also is running a contest on its Facebook page where people can enter to win seven round-trip tickets, one to every market the airline serves from Kansas City.

"They've said they're going to run a connecting hub-and-spoke network in Denver - the model that they used to have, which wound up in bankruptcy", says Kirby during the Chicago-based carrier's second quarter earnings call today.

"We're going to have something set up now where over 90 percent of America will be within one hour of a Frontier flight to anywhere else in the USA", said Howard Diamond, general counsel for Frontier Airlines, at a press conference held at TIA.

Frontier Airlines is preparing to fly out of Louisville once again.

Frontier will operate the new routes with Airbus A320 aircraft.

James Simmons, Aviation Professor with Metropolitan State University of Denver, said that despite the carrier's widely known recent problems in on-time performance, customer satisfaction and labor, its ultra low-priced business model is proving to be a popular and profitable one.

Frontier's new daily nonstop flights from Milwaukee to Miami begin on October 5. "Customers traveling from Oklahoma City now have a new significantly lower-cost option to reach these great destinations". Frontier's current schedule will bring it up to more than 80 weekly flights by December.
