He's only 47 years old, but his life is already coming to an end.

A Texas woman posted a heartbreaking plea for her husband, who is an Army veteran and is now living at home under hospice care.

Lee Hernandez's telephone number is 210-632-6778.

Lee has been battling health issues for five years, but hit "rock bottom" more than a year ago.

Doctors aren't sure what caused his illness, and they believe that all that can be done for him now is to make him as comfortable as possible.

Facing a frightening future, the 18-year U.S. veteran - who served a tour in Iraq - one day asked his wife to hold onto his phone "in case someone calls". When the phone never rang, Hernandez became despondent. After two hours without any notifications, Lee said to Ernestine "I guess no one wants to talk to me". "(Lee's) speech is not very well, so many people didn't take much interest or want to talk with him".

Ernestine shared her husband's wishes with Caregivers of the Wounded Warriors and Lee's phone has been ringing off the hook ever since.

Her Facebook post was quickly spread around the Internet, and in a matter of days, his phone was overwhelmed with over 70,000 text messages from people around the world.

"A lot of people call to pray with him". Ernestine describes his husband as a fighter that has "beaten the odds".

Despite fighting for his life more times than many of us could even imagine, Hernandez continues to suffer from strokes.

Below is his number, if you want to take 5 minutes out of your day tomorrow and call him I know it will brighten his day. I do not know all the details, BUT what I do know is his wife told me he asked to hold his phone and when she asked why he said, "incase someone calls". She also says that while Hernandez may not be able to answer every call due to excruciating pain, that she "wouldn't have it any other way".

Since then, people have reached out to him.
