CNN cited the White House's annual report to Congress released Friday that says the average salary among men working in the White House is roughly $104,000 while women in the White House make approximately $83,500, indicating that the pay of male and female staffers is unfair. That's $20,995 less on average.

The disparity can be attributed to how more women are filling low-ranking jobs, reported CNN, as part of its analysis. According to the White House document, Ivanka is getting paid a salary of $0.00 for her role as "first daughter and advisor to the president".

In terms of the number of employees working for the White House, the staff is nearly evenly split, with about 46 percent of the 377 employees being female and 54 percent male. In 2014, Obama signed an executive order promoting fair pay and safe work conditions, including mandates for paycheck transparency and a ban on forced arbitration in cases of sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination or sexual assault.

As of 2015, the federal government gender pay gap was 11 percent, according to a report by the Office of Personnel Management.
