White House paints Handel win as Trump triumph

President Donald Trump claimed hard-fought congressional victories Wednesday, intensifying an already hard day of questions for Capitol Hill Democrats. "But we don't agonize, we organize - organize inside the House and mobilize outside for the good of the American people", she wrote.

Yet neither Ossoff's campaign nor the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee attempted to tie Republican victor Karen Handel to Trump in a television ad even once.

It was Trump's fifth campaign-style rally since taking office, all in states he won on his path to a four-year term as the US leader.

The House GOP health bill seemed created to punish Trump voters and reward Democrats.

The president's party just about always loses seats in the midterm elections, and it generally gets clobbered when the president's approval rating is beneath 50 percent, much less beneath 40. You can't cast a protest vote without risking a change in party control, a risk that seems likely to be palpable in 2018.

"We as Democrats have to come to terms with the fact that we lost again", said Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass.

Still, Trump says he likes Chinese President Xi Jinping. The election in 2006 is a particularly relevant example, because Democrats had a somewhat similar, if better, set of opportunities. Or - no, be more moderate where you need to be.

Handel backers, though, hailed Tuesday's results as confirmation that the district remains solidly in the party's grasp. There are a lot of reasons for this structural G.O.P. advantage, like partisan gerrymandering, the inefficient distribution of Democrats in heavily Democratic cities, and the benefit of incumbency. Democrats need to pick up 24 House seats to retake the majority.

In the most expensive House race in history, Republican Karen Handel defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff by a 3.8-point margin. She pointed voters instead to her "proven conservative record" as a state and local elected official. That's where the fresh blood comes from-and it's something that appears to elude the comprehension of the Left. All of the state's congressional seats, including Handel's, will be on the ballot as well. The other path, if this candidate does well, is the presidency. Top Senate Republicans are expected to release the plan Thursday.

She says Democrats "gave them a run for their money in all of them". He also mocks those who have chosen to make their peace with Trump as blind followers who have chosen to "shut up and salute" their general. "This was a district that hadn't gone Democratic since the '70s, and the strides {Ossoff] made are more proof that there are people coming in and participating [and] making a difference".

After bashing Hillary Clinton's ties to Wall Street during his presidential campaign, Trump praised his own economic adviser, Gary Cohn, who was the president of Goldman Sachs. That's a total collapse. Republicans have won all four of the four special elections that have been held under President Trump. After Ossoff, don't be shocked if this candidate recruitment issue on the Left worsens.

Trump's election as president had papered over the intraparty disputes and generational divides among House Democrats, as lawmakers joined in opposing the White House and trying to channel the energy of their party's liberal base.

Norman, the conservative candidate, was funded through the House Freedom Fund and committed to joining the Freedom Caucus - the House's most conservative caucus, which has proved to be a thorn in House leadership's side. "And they can compete anywhere if they're given a level playing field", Trump said. Scott Brown in the 2010 special election in MA.

Branstad traveled with Trump to Iowa on Air Force One. The people didn't respond well to this in November, and they didn't respond well last night.

"I can't help but think", she went on, "that as intense as this race became, the money, the scrutiny ... that those other races, the other steps in my life, helped me to be prepared in this race".
