Jason Quate, 34, was taken into custody on Tuesday after his wife told police that the man killed their daughter two years ago, when they lived in IL, and buried her body, KSNV reports. The dead child was found in the detached garage of a dilapidated, boarded-up home in Centreville, an impoverished community just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.

We found IL court records showing Quate was arrested on a warrant in July of 2000 and found guilty on two felony charges of burglary. Detectives believe that is most likely where the young girl was killed.

Centreville police Sgt. DeMarius Thomas Sr. told the St. Louis Post-Disaptch that police believe the child was killed in nearby Belleville, Ill, and dumped in the garage.
