This is of course what rival suppliers including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon also offer, and Ellison gave no details on where or how the new data centers would be built. I think what we should do is go and get Aurora, do some work, then call up Amazon and say I want to take all the work I did on Aurora and I want to move it to the Oracle cloud.

"Guess what? Our next presidential election might be decided by Vladimir Putin", Ellison said, through leaked American email that U.S. intelligence officials believe were caused by a cyber attack orchestrated by Russian Federation. How could that happen, Ellison remarked, quickly answering: "email leaks". "Workloads can be moved back and forth as needed from the data center to the cloud, with no difference in performance", he said. IT has just caught up to the other world's services, he observed.

Cloud SaaS and PaaS, the segment in which Oracle has put significant financial investment, messaging and sales efforts behind, grew 77% year-to-year to $798 million in 3Q16 (fiscal 1Q17 for the company), with execution in the US exceeding expectations and the Brexit decision causing unanticipated headwinds. That's a serious bump in specifications for Oracle, and a step towards setting itself up for a top position amongst cloud service providers.

"The combination of Oracle Identity Cloud Service and Palerra's CASB solution [will] deliver comprehensive protection for users, applications and APIs, data and infrastructure to secure customer adoption of the cloud". The new release will be available as a cloud service first, Oracle stressed. The latest products are aimed at third-party developers, enabling them to run their applications from Oracle data centers.

"The Oracle Marketing Cloud has become invaluable to our customer acquisition strategy and has helped fuel DocuSign's hyper growth", noted Joy. "This is a very important part of our platform compatibility, migration, and coexistence story", said Ellison.

With its annual OpenWorld conference having kicked off on Sunday, Oracle (ORCL) has issued nine press releases over the last 24 hours to unveil new products, services and partnerships.

But having had discussions with people over the past 24 hours, the focus on IaaS for Oracle is important because now its customers that are shifting workloads to the cloud are doing so with Amazon. The Silicon Valley company announced several products and services for corporate customers, including machine learning and artificial intelligence applications. Oracle lacked the market share to even figure into Gartner's most recent IaaS magic quadrant analysis.

"Our customers see significant advantage in a comprehensive, integrated suite of Cloud capabilities across all layers of the Cloud", said Thomas Kurian, president, Oracle.

From the world's largest companies to industry disrupters and leading consultancies, Oracle Cloud is redefining the future of enterprise software and helping to transform businesses around the world.

DocuSign SVP of Web and Mobile and one of the SF Business Times' most influential womenRobin Joy will be presenting at OpenWorld on the impact of Oracle's Marketing Cloud within DocuSign.
